Book Reviews
Beautifully written and illustrated
This book is beautifully written to appeal to children of any age, and the illustrations catch and hold the interest of children as well as adults. It teaches life lessons without being “preachy.” I purchased it for my twin great-granddaughters, who are almost a year old, and for my 2-year old and my 8-year old great granddaughters. They all love it and I loved reading it to them. I am eager for the second in the series to become available.

Teaches children to care about others
I have 10 grandchildren. 8 of them are between the ages of 3 – 11. They all love this book. My 11 year old loves it just as much and the 3 yr old. The cliff hanger ending is wonderful, my grandkids, especially the 6 – 11, are so ready for the next book. I can see this as a best seller.a

Love That Llama
I was fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of this book. The characters jump off the page. The dialogue is humorous and directed children yet engaging to the adults who may be reading it along with their kids
Reviews from GoodReads.com
Carly lives on a farm in Oklahoma called Five Mile Farm. She wanted a pony more than anything. It was springtime and that brought back all the animals, flowers, and new life which included the honeybees. Over the mountain in an old house lived a hive of magical bees. Everyday Carly would walk there and tell them her wishes. Nora, the queen bee, would grant wishes for those who sought her out. So she sent a bee named Journey out to find Carly a pony. Journey passed by Grumps the coyote who all the animals on the farm were afraid of. Eventually Journey finds a pony and goes back to tell Nora. Nora and Journey return to the pony only to find that there is no pony. It is a llama named Charlie. Charlie didn’t think his farmer Bud would miss him so he left with Nora and Journey. Carly awoke to find Charlie. Carly thought he would be hungry so she ran to the house and found a big piece of cheese. One day Grumps came to the farm and all the animals got scared and ran. Luckily Charlie scared Grumps away. Charlie said to Carly that they must help Grumps find friends. They needed to go to the library to see what coyotes liked. The worker bees had been listening. They would help too. To be continued…
This was a great little story with unique characters that really make it what it is. I love the magical bees and Grumps. My son really laughed at the one illustration of Grumps at the end where it looks like he is tooting in the skunks face. The quality of the illustrations are amazing. I can’t wait to see what comes next in the story.
Kid’s Picture Book Review
This is a very creative and fun story following a little girl named Carly who has everything she ever wanted except a pony. Luckily Queen bee Nora is nearby and sets out to fulfill Carly’s wish by finding her a pony. But the white fluffy animal she finds for Nora is not a pony, it is a llama named Charlie.
I really loved how Charlie and Carly become fast friends. It really shows kids how to be accepting of others and the gifts they are given. Carly is also a fantastic character that shows how to work hard and be thankful for the things in your life. She could have easily been upset that her wish for a pony was not fulfilled but instead she accepted Charlie into her life with zeal.
Every page of this delightful book has charming art with a soft color palette that is very appealing. Every animal is cute and I had a hard time turning the page because my child did not want to stop looking at the cute critters that litter the pages. She was especially fond of the Yorkie.
Five Mile Charlie: A Special Pony for Carly is a fun children’s book that will take young readers on a cute farm adventure where they will meet interesting characters and learn valuable lessons in fun ways.
This is absolutely the best Children’s book!! The book has such a fun story with everyday adventures but also teaches how to find resources to help in life situations. I love that it has a series of books to keep the children and the parents excited to see what adventures await!
